Can 'Parts' therapy tame BPD's emotional storms?

NCT ID NCT07342907

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study explores whether internal family systems (IFS) therapy, a type of talk therapy that helps people understand different 'parts' of their mind, can reduce symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Fifteen adults with BPD will receive up to 50 therapy sessions over 15 months. Researchers will track changes in emotional distress, self-harm, and other BPD-related behaviors to see if this approach helps where other treatments fall short.
