New 90-Minute test could save lives in sepsis emergencies

NCT ID NCT06219135

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new method called IDBIORIV that can identify the germ causing a bloodstream infection and determine which antibiotics will work in just 90 minutes, compared to the usual 24-48 hours. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that affects millions worldwide, and faster diagnosis can lead to quicker, more effective treatment and higher survival rates. The study will enroll about 1,372 adults and children with sepsis to see how well this new method compares to current lab techniques.
