Summary
This study tested whether adding infectious disease experts to primary care teams helps reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions for common infections like colds and urinary tract infections. Over 1,300 patients from six clinics in Spain took part. Doctors in the expert-supported group could call or meet with specialists to discuss tricky cases, aiming to improve prescribing habits.
