Can a nighttime drug give ICU patients real sleep?

NCT ID NCT06824077

Summary

This study is testing whether a medication called dexmedetomidine helps patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) get better, more restful sleep. About 50 adult ICU patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the medication or a placebo for two nights while their sleep is measured with a portable machine. The main goal is to see if the drug makes sleep more like normal sleep at home and if patients feel more alert the next day.
