Nighttime drug combo tested to help critically ill patients sleep better

NCT ID NCT05718024

Summary

This study tested whether giving a combination of two low-dose sedative drugs at night could improve sleep quality for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who need help breathing. Researchers enrolled 174 patients aged 50 or older who were on a ventilator or high-flow oxygen. The goal was to see if this drug combination could lead to better sleep patterns with fewer side effects than using either drug alone.
