Nurses train to spot vein congestion in sepsis with ultrasound

NCT ID NCT07406750

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether intensive care nurses can learn to use a special ultrasound method called VExUS to detect vein congestion in patients with sepsis. Sepsis can cause blood to back up in veins, leading to organ damage. The goal is to see if nurses can perform the ultrasound reliably and if the findings relate to patient outcomes. About 46 participants will be involved.
