Doctors test if custom blood pressure can protect the brain in ICU

NCT ID NCT07296029

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether doctors could find and use a personalized 'ideal' blood pressure target for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers monitored patients' brain blood flow for 24 hours to find this target, then tried to keep their blood pressure in that range for 48 hours. The goal was to see if this personalized approach is possible and if it might be linked to fewer episodes of delirium, a common and serious confusion in ICU patients.
