First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 24, 2026
Summary
This study uses in-depth interviews to explore the personal experiences, unmet needs, and care barriers faced by people with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and their partners. Researchers will talk to 250 patients and caregivers to understand emotional, social, and practical challenges that surveys often miss. The goal is to gather rich insights to improve education, support, and quality of life for those living with these life-saving devices.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could reveal hidden needs and barriers for ICD patients and caregivers, leading to better education, support, and care practices.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage qualitative study, not a treatment trial. Findings may not apply to all ICD patients or lead to direct changes in care.
