New app aims to cure insomnia in cancer survivors
NCT ID NCT07101302
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a smartphone app called iCANSleep, which provides a type of talk therapy (CBT-I) to help cancer survivors with insomnia. Researchers will enroll 146 Canadian cancer survivors who have trouble sleeping and compare those using the app to a waitlist group. The goal is to see if the app improves sleep and reduces related issues like fatigue and anxiety.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) delivered via a smartphone app
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide an accessible, non-drug treatment for insomnia in cancer survivors, potentially improving their quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial (146 people) comparing the app to a waitlist, not a placebo. The results may not apply to all cancer survivors, and the app's benefits might be modest or short-lived.
