NCT ID NCT02601755

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a smartphone app and website called iCanCope with Pain, designed to help teens and young adults (ages 15-25) manage chronic pain. The app lets users track pain, sleep, mood, and activity, set goals, and learn coping strategies. The goal was to see if the program is easy to use and whether it can improve pain, daily function, and quality of life. 302 participants from pain clinics took part.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give teens and young adults a practical, self-guided tool to better manage chronic pain and improve daily life.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage feasibility study focused on whether the program is usable and acceptable, not on proving it reduces pain. The app may not work for everyone or replace medical care.
