NCT ID NCT07552779
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This early-stage study is testing a new tablet version of the COVID-19 drug ibuzatrelvir in 18 healthy adults. Researchers want to see how much of the drug gets into the blood when taken as a whole tablet, dispersed in water, or with food. The goal is to compare the new tablet to the original one. Participants will stay in a clinic for about 10 days and be followed for 11 weeks total.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Ibuzatrelvir
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more convenient or effective tablet form of ibuzatrelvir for treating COVID-19.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 study with only 18 healthy people, not patients. It only measures drug levels in blood, not whether the drug actually treats COVID-19. The new tablet may not work better than the original.
