Doctors test whether fewer biopsies during colonoscopy work just as well

NCT ID NCT06560021

Summary

This study aims to determine whether taking fewer random tissue samples during colonoscopy is just as effective at finding precancerous growths in people with long-term inflammatory bowel disease. Researchers will compare two different biopsy approaches in over 1,600 patients undergoing routine colonoscopy. The goal is to find the safest, most efficient method for cancer surveillance while minimizing patient discomfort and healthcare costs.
