Could a simple blood injection ease your jaw pain?

NCT ID NCT05883982

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether injecting a concentrate of the patient's own blood proteins (I-PRF) into the jaw joint could reduce pain and improve jaw opening in people with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. 49 adults with TMJ pain or limited jaw movement received the injection. The study measured pain levels and how wide they could open their mouth before and after treatment.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, natural injection to ease jaw pain and improve movement for people with TMJ disorders.
