Do heart meds cause hidden low blood sugar in kids?

NCT ID NCT07233421

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at how often low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) happens in children under 7 with long QT syndrome who take the beta-blocker propranolol. Researchers will compare these children to their healthy siblings using a continuous glucose monitor for 10 days during both healthy times and infections. The goal is to find out if low blood sugar is common, if it can occur without symptoms, and if genetics play a role. Results may help make propranolol treatment safer for children.
