Too much oxygen in ICU linked to higher death risk
NCT ID NCT07549763
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at 260 ICU patients to see how often they got too much oxygen (hyperoxemia) and how it affected their health. About 60% of patients had high oxygen levels, and those patients were more likely to die and stay longer in the hospital. The findings suggest doctors should be careful not to give too much oxygen to critically ill people.
