Can hyaluronic acid and bone graft make dental implants stronger?
NCT ID NCT07665281
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding hyaluronic acid gel and bone graft during dental implant surgery improves the quality of the surrounding gum and bone. Thirty-six adults needing implants are split into three groups: one gets hyaluronic acid, one gets both hyaluronic acid and bone graft, and one gets standard implants. Researchers will measure changes in gum thickness, bone width, and pain over 16 weeks to see if these additions help.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- hyaluronic acid gel (Gengigel) and particulate bone graft
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple way to improve gum and bone healing around dental implants, potentially reducing implant failure.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The benefits of hyaluronic acid and bone graft for implant outcomes are still uncertain.
