NCT ID NCT07369544

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a 20-second hug from a family member right before surgery can lower anxiety and pain afterward. About 160 adults having surgery will be split into two groups: one that hugs and one that doesn't. Researchers will measure anxiety levels before surgery and pain scores after to see if hugging makes a difference.
