Massive HS study aims to unlock secrets of debilitating skin disease
NCT ID NCT04115566
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is creating a large registry of 3,000 people with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a painful and poorly understood skin condition. Researchers will collect medical information and biological samples over time to learn more about how HS progresses and what causes it. The goal is to develop a better classification system and identify clues that could lead to new treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could lead to a better classification system for HS and identify potential targets for new treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test any therapy. Results may take years and might not lead to immediate clinical changes.
