New drug cocktail aims to boost pancreatic cancer surgery success

NCT ID NCT06587061

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 trial is testing whether adding the experimental drug HRS-4642 to standard chemotherapy (gemcitabine and albumin-bound paclitaxel) can help shrink pancreatic tumors before surgery and prevent recurrence afterward. About 30 adults with resectable or borderline resectable pancreatic cancer will receive the combination, then surgery, then more treatment. The study will measure safety, tumor response, and how many patients achieve complete tumor removal.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

HRS-4642 combined with gemcitabine and albumin-bound paclitaxel

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a more effective pre- and post-surgery treatment for pancreatic cancer, potentially improving survival and surgical outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The combination may cause significant side effects, and it is not yet known if it will improve long-term outcomes.
