First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This small pilot study tested whether injecting the Gardasil 9 HPV vaccine directly into genital warts could reduce their size and number. Only 2 adults with at least 3 warts each took part. The goal was to see if this approach is safe and worth studying further.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Gardasil 9 (HPV vaccine)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new way to treat genital warts without surgery or creams.
What could go wrong
This is a very early pilot study with only 2 participants, so results may not apply to others. The treatment is injected directly into warts, which may cause pain or irritation.
