Simple blood draw could replace invasive biopsies for cervical cancer
NCT ID NCT05606133
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a blood test called NavDx that looks for tiny pieces of HPV DNA shed by cancer cells. The goal is to see if this simple blood draw can accurately detect cervical cancer and precancer, and monitor how patients respond to treatment. The study will enroll 100 women with HPV-related cervical dysplasia or cervical cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NavDx blood test
What this could lead to
If successful, this blood test could provide a simple, non-invasive way to screen for and monitor cervical cancer and precancer, reducing the need for biopsies and other invasive procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The test may not reliably distinguish between precancer and invasive cancer, and further larger studies are needed.
