Brain scans reveal how stress steers seniors off course

NCT ID NCT03896529

Summary

This study aims to understand how stress affects the way older adults plan routes and use memory during navigation. Researchers will use brain scans and virtual reality tasks to compare two groups of healthy adults aged 65-80: one exposed to a mild stress test and one not. The goal is to learn why some people's navigation skills decline with age more than others, and how stress might push people toward less efficient, habitual routes instead of thoughtful planning.
