Can a pinch of pain erase what you just learned? study tests memory in aging

NCT ID NCT05471557

Summary

This study aimed to understand how temporary pain affects a person's ability to learn and remember new walking patterns, especially in older adults. Researchers tested 61 healthy young and older adults, using mild electrical stimulation to create brief pain during a walking task. They measured how well participants remembered the new walking pattern and tested their memory and thinking skills to see if cognitive changes played a role.
