Scientists unlock Exercise's secret weapon against diabetes risk
NCT ID NCT04158375
Summary
This study aimed to understand exactly how strength training improves the body's ability to use insulin and builds muscle in older adults with insulin resistance, a condition that often leads to type 2 diabetes. Researchers compared 58 adults, some who did supervised strength training and others who remained sedentary, to see how specific genes and proteins in their muscles changed. The goal was to discover the biological reasons exercise works, which could help guide future treatments.
