Hormones may change how you feel pain, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT05787470

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how hormones like testosterone and estradiol influence pain sensitivity in cisgender and transgender individuals. Researchers will recruit 120 participants across six groups and use heat, cold, and pressure tests to measure pain responses. Blood samples will also be taken to check hormone levels and immune cell activity. The goal is to better understand the role of hormones in pain perception, not to test a treatment.
