New study tests hormonal treatments for heavy periods in teens with bleeding disorders

NCT ID NCT06740929

First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether hormonal medications (like birth control pills, patches, injections, or IUDs) work equally well for heavy menstrual bleeding in teens and young adults with a bleeding disorder compared to those without. About 163 participants under 26 will be followed to see how much bleeding decreases, and how their quality of life, iron levels, and hemoglobin improve. The goal is to find better ways to manage heavy periods in this group.
