Text message workouts could ease strain on hearts of PAH patients
NCT ID NCT06477640
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a home rehabilitation program using daily text or email messages with simple exercises can reduce the number of heartbeats needed during a 6-minute walk in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Researchers will enroll 55 adults with PAH and compare those who get exercise messages to those who get neutral messages. The goal is to see if this low-cost approach can improve heart efficiency and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
daily exercise messages via text or email
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help people with PAH manage their condition at home and feel better day-to-day.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 55 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exercise program is gentle and low-risk, but it may not provide clear benefits.
