Home brain zapper tested for cancer fog

NCT ID NCT07112521

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a home-use device that sends a mild electrical current to the brain can help breast cancer survivors with memory and attention problems (often called 'chemo brain'). Forty women who finished cancer treatment will use either the active device or a sham version for six weeks. Researchers will also check if being overweight changes how well the treatment works.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) device

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a safe, at-home way to improve memory and attention in breast cancer survivors struggling with 'chemo brain'.

What could go wrong

This is a small early-stage trial (40 people) testing a mild brain stimulation technique. The effect may be small or no better than placebo, and results may not apply to all survivors.
