Parkinson's treatment could go monthly: new injection tested
NCT ID NCT06798519
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage study tests a new long-acting injection called HNC364, which turns into the Parkinson's drug rasagiline in the body. Researchers want to see how much of the drug gets into the bloodstream compared to taking rasagiline pills daily. The study involves 30 healthy adults who receive either the injection every 4 weeks or the oral tablet. Safety and side effects are also closely monitored.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HNC364 (a long-acting injectable form of rasagiline)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a once-monthly injection for Parkinson's disease, potentially improving medication adherence compared to daily pills.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 study in only 30 healthy adults, not people with Parkinson's. It primarily measures drug levels and safety, not whether it improves symptoms. The injection may cause side effects like injection site reactions.
