First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a program called Gender-affirming Abriendo Puertas for transgender women living with HIV in Santo Domingo. The program includes counseling, peer support, and community activities to help women take their HIV medication and keep the virus under control. About 120 women took part, with half receiving the program and half getting standard care. The goal was to see if the program helps more women achieve viral suppression (a very low level of HIV in the blood) over 6 to 12 months.
