New 'shock and kill' therapy aims to flush out and destroy hidden HIV

NCT ID NCT07577986

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a two-step approach to target hidden HIV in the body. First, a drug called chidamide wakes up dormant HIV-infected cells. Then, specially designed natural killer (NK) cells are infused to find and kill those cells. The trial involves 20 adults with HIV who are stable on antiretroviral therapy. The main goal is to check safety, but researchers will also look for signs that the hidden HIV reservoir is shrinking.
