New program aims to stop HIV in mothers and babies

NCT ID NCT06746675

Summary

This study tests a counseling program called Healthy Families-PrEP that helps women in rural Uganda use HIV prevention medication (PrEP) when they are trying to get pregnant, during pregnancy, and after giving birth. The goal is to reduce HIV infections in women and prevent passing HIV to their children. Researchers will work with 660 women who have partners living with or at risk of HIV to see if the counseling helps them start and continue using PrEP.
