Money and medicine: kenyan trial tests if microfinance boosts HIV treatment success

NCT ID NCT04417127

Summary

This study tested a new way to help people with HIV in rural Kenya stay in care and keep their virus under control. Researchers combined local HIV and chronic disease check-ups with existing community savings groups. They wanted to see if making care easier to access and improving household finances would help people stick with their treatment. The trial involved 1,200 adults with HIV to compare this integrated approach against standard clinic-based care.
