First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving HIV-infected babies (ages 1 month to 1 year) early treatment for two common infections—cytomegalovirus (CMV) and tuberculosis (TB)—could help them survive severe pneumonia. Over 500 infants were enrolled and followed for up to a year. The goal was to see if this approach reduces deaths and hospital stays.
