Researchers track bone health in HIV patients

NCT ID NCT00146094

Summary

This study aimed to understand why people with HIV often develop bone loss (osteopenia and osteoporosis). Researchers followed 44 HIV-positive men for two years, comparing bone density changes between those starting antiretroviral drugs and those not taking them. The goal was to see if the medications played a role in weakening bones.
