HIV and fatty liver: a hidden danger revealed?
NCT ID NCT05023044
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study follows 400 adults with HIV to learn how nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) develops and progresses in this group. Researchers use a non-invasive ultrasound-like scan to measure liver fat and stiffness over one year. The goal is to fill major knowledge gaps, since previous studies excluded people with HIV. No new treatment is tested; this is purely an observational study to guide future care.
