New hip block targets back pain, may cut opioid use

Summary

This study tests whether adding a nerve block to the back of the hip to two standard blocks can improve pain relief after hip surgery. 50 adults having hip surgery will be split into two groups to compare pain scores and the need for extra pain medicine. The goal is to reduce pain and the use of strong opioid drugs in the first 24 hours after surgery.
