HIIT workouts may stop diabetes from coming back

NCT ID NCT07565935

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tests whether a home-based high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program can help people who have reversed their type 2 diabetes keep it from returning. Twenty adults who completed the NHS Path to Remission programme will either do HIIT three times a week or continue their usual routine for 16 weeks. The goal is to see if HIIT protects the pancreas cells that produce insulin, which is key for long-term remission.
