NCT ID NCT07515716
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether giving mothers high-flow oxygen during a C-section can help prevent oxygen shortage in the baby. Researchers will compare a special high-flow oxygen device (OptiFlow THRIVE) with standard low-flow oxygen. The trial involves 200 pregnant women scheduled for C-section under spinal anesthesia.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
high-flow nasal oxygen (via OptiFlow THRIVE device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that high-flow oxygen helps protect the baby from oxygen shortage during C-section, leading to better outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with 200 participants, so results may not apply to all pregnancies. The device may cause discomfort or not improve outcomes significantly.
