Snack bars as a secret weapon against hunger?
NCT ID NCT07782593
First seen Aug 24, 2026 · Last updated Aug 27, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This trial tests whether eating high-fibre plant-based snack bars every day for four weeks can reduce how hungry healthy adults feel throughout the day, compared with regular snack bars. It also looks at effects on the gut microbiome, digestive symptoms, and other health measures. Around 100 healthy UK adults who typically snack at least twice daily and eat less than 20 grams of fibre per day will take part remotely over seven weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- High-fibre plant-based snack bar
- What this could lead to
- If effective, these snack bars could offer a simple dietary swap to help manage hunger and support gut health in everyday life.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, exploratory study in healthy adults, so results may not apply broadly. Digestive discomfort from high fibre is possible.
