Scientists track silent hepatitis in blood donors

NCT ID NCT00004850

Summary

This study aimed to learn more about Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in people who donated blood. Researchers followed over 800 blood donors who tested positive for HCV antibodies to understand how the virus spreads, who remains infected, and what liver problems might develop. The study involved regular blood draws and interviews over time to observe the infection's course, but it did not provide treatment.
