Blood thinner may boost success of reattached fingers

NCT ID NCT04725201

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a blood thinner called heparin through a vein can improve the chances that a reattached finger will survive after a traumatic amputation. About 188 adults who need finger reattachment surgery will take part. Half will get the standard care plus heparin, and half will get standard care alone. The main goal is to see if the finger is clearly alive at the time the patient leaves the hospital.
