Video coaching for preemies: can a 12-week online program boost motor and cognitive skills?
NCT ID NCT07727720
First seen Jul 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a 12-week tele-rehabilitation program, called HEP (Homeostasis-Enrichment-Plasticity), can improve motor, cognitive, language, and social-emotional skills in preterm infants born at or before 36 weeks and 6 days. The program involves weekly 45-minute online sessions with a therapist and parent training to support activities at home. Researchers will also measure effects on parental anxiety and goal achievement. The study aims to see if delivering this environmental enrichment-based intervention remotely is feasible and beneficial.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- HEP Tele-Rehabilitation Intervention (Homeostasis-Environmental Enrichment-Plasticity approach)
- What this could lead to
- If this approach works, it could provide a scalable, home-based early intervention to support development in preterm infants who are at risk for delays.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small feasibility study with only 16 infants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention requires consistent parent involvement, which may be challenging for some families.
