NCT ID NCT07163780
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new early intervention called HEP (Homeostasis-Enrichment-Plasticity) for infants with Down syndrome, ages 4 to 12 months. The approach is child-centered and family-based, focusing on enriched environments and brain plasticity. Over 12 sessions, researchers will compare HEP to traditional therapy to see if it improves motor and sensory development.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HEP (Homeostasis-Enrichment-Plasticity) behavioral intervention
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new early therapy to help infants with Down syndrome develop better motor and sensory skills.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 26 infants, so results may not apply to all children. The intervention is behavioral, not a drug, so benefits may be modest.
