New dialysis technique tested for better fluid control in kidney patients
NCT ID NCT07662889
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of dialysis in 64 adults with end-stage kidney disease. One group gets standard hemodialysis, the other gets hemodiafiltration, which uses both diffusion and convection to remove waste. The main goal is to see if hemodiafiltration leads to less weight gain between sessions, a sign of better fluid control. Blood tests will also be compared after one month.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Hemodiafiltration (a dialysis technique combining diffusion and convection)
What this could lead to
If hemodiafiltration proves better at controlling fluid and blood markers, it could become a preferred dialysis method for kidney failure patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 64 participants and a short one-month follow-up. Results may not apply to all patients or show clear benefits over standard care.
