Could a blood filter save stroke patients?
NCT ID NCT07127484
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a procedure called hemoadsorption, which filters the blood, can help people with severe ischemic stroke. Researchers will compare standard care plus hemoadsorption to standard care alone in 116 adults. The goal is to see if the procedure reduces the chance of severe disability or death.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
hemoadsorption (a blood-filtering procedure)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new way to reduce disability after severe stroke by filtering harmful substances from the blood.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with only 116 participants, so results may not apply to all stroke patients. The procedure also carries risks like bleeding or infection.
