New study tests simple tricks to take the ouch out of Kids' shots

NCT ID NCT07468227

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at two simple, drug-free methods—Helfer Skin Tap (gentle tapping near the injection site) and vibration—to see if they can lower pain and fear in children aged 5-10 getting a shot in the emergency room. About 186 children will be randomly assigned to one of these methods or standard care. Pain and fear will be measured right before and after the injection using child-friendly scales.
