NCT ID NCT06283771

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether heated socks made with wearable technology can help prevent hypothermia, reduce shivering, and improve comfort in cold conditions. Seventy healthy volunteers will be randomly assigned to wear either heated socks or regular-looking socks in a cooled room. Their body temperature, shivering, and comfort will be measured over 60 minutes.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Heated socks (wearable technology)

What this could lead to

If effective, heated socks could help prevent hypothermia and shivering in cold environments, improving comfort and safety.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study in healthy volunteers, not patients. Results may not apply to real-world hypothermia scenarios.
