Scientists test 'Mini-Tumors' to find best heated chemo for tough cancers

NCT ID NCT04847063

Summary

This study aims to improve a treatment for cancers that have spread to the lining of the abdomen. The treatment involves surgery to remove visible tumors, followed by a wash of heated chemotherapy inside the abdomen. Researchers want to see if testing tumor samples in special lab systems can help predict which chemotherapy drugs will work best for each patient. The study is for adults with advanced abdominal cancers from specific origins, such as ovarian, colorectal, or appendiceal cancer, or a rare type called peritoneal mesothelioma.
