Heat wave danger: why seniors with lung disease are at risk
NCT ID NCT06295523
Summary
This study aimed to understand why older adults with COPD (a chronic lung disease) are more likely to get sick or die during heat waves. Researchers planned to compare how the bodies of elderly people with and without COPD handle simulated heat waves, measuring things like core temperature and breathing. The goal was to learn the physical reasons for this increased risk, but the study was terminated early after enrolling only one person.
